My dog has what the vet calls a cradle rash - scales and bumps all over his skin?

We were given a special shampoo that is supposed to clear up the skin rash, but it is going slow. He seems miserable. What would you do over and above this?|||well sometimes the only thing is time....my dog just tore a ligament in his knee and he looks miserable, but just time will make it better. someone might have a better answer, but if you decide to use something with it, be sure they are compatable, call and ask your vet before you use anything else with it. just make sure you keep doing what the vet says

good luck, and hope your pup feels better soon|||I've never heard of cradle rash specifically, but dogs with skin problems do sometimes take a while to resolve. I can't think of any "home remedies" that might help... the determining factor in what to do about it is what causes cradle rash. If it is a bacteria or fungal infection, or some sort of mite, only a vet can prescribe the proper treatment. If it is an allergy or an auto-immune disorder, sometimes switching dog foods helps, but don't do this without consulting a vet. If you think what this vet has prescribed is not working at all, see another vet for a second opinion. Ask your current vet to give you a copy of your dog's medical records, or have him fax them to your new vet for you. He is required by law to release these records to another vet if he requests them- it is part of the Freedom of Information Act.
