A skin rash - bacterial or fungal?

I had what I thought was dry skin but now I realize it is more. I started putting anti-bacterial salve on it starting today, but now i'm thinking what if its fungal? Any suggestions? What can I get over the counter that might deal with both issues or do i need to buy 2 things?|||Fungal could respond to athlete's foot creams. A dermatologist would have to check a scraping under a microscope to be certain.|||Ask a pharmacist in the morning, but they may send you to the doctor.
